Medical Marijuana Advocate Wins Out in Oregon by Steph Sherer
In the race for state Attorney General in Oregon the good guys won out with a decisive victory over a rival who previously led a cannabis crackdown last year. The winner, Ellen Rosenblum, pledged to protect the rights of medical marijuana patients and to make marijuana enforcement a low priority. Ellen Rosenblum upset former U.S. Attorney Dwight Holton by a voting percentage of 63% to 36%. With both candidates having similar stances on other issues in the race, some believe that the easy victory for Ellen Rosenblum was due to her favoring of medical marijuana policy in Oregon. This could be a sign that a majority of the voters in favor of Rosenblum are at odds with the federal government's crackdown on storefront cannabis shops in such states that have legalized it for healthcare reasons. This is a large victory for medical marijuana advocates in Oregon today, and such a victory could also lead to more power for the good guys in the national debate in November.
Stay Medicated and smoke a victory J for the good guys!
