56 Percent of Americans Favor Legal Marijuana in New Poll by Lucia Graves
According to a nationwide Rasmussen Poll 56% of Americans think marijuana should be legalized. Those in favor of legalizing marijuana believe that it should be regulated like tobacco and alcohol. As we all know tobacco and alcohol is actually harmful and is the cause of many deaths across the nation on an annual basis. Marijuana on the other hand has not been proven to be nearly as harmful, if at all, and continued medical research shows it to be beneficial for many diseases and disorders. So why not regulate it? Unfortunately many politicians seem to be afraid to favor marijuana policy reform or are just sticking to old-school precedents. However, the ones who favor such reform will most likely gain favorable support from the younger generation of voters who are not afraid themselves to take a stance on what they believe in. Only 36% of likely voters opposed the concept of legalizing marijuana and 8% were undecided (aka 8% were just about to light up their first joint and would soon be convinced to join the other 56%). Although this is just a small poll it is indeed a good sign for the good guys!

Obama has never advocated removing marijuana from Schedule 1, the classification that puts it alongside heroin and cocaine as drugs that "have a high potential for abuse" and "no currently accepted medical use in treatment in the United States." Obama should ask medical marijuana doctors regarding uses of medical marijuana.
