2012: The Marijuana Movement. What Will 2013 Bring?

In basic terms the New Year is simply just a calendar change; a change in the numbers of the year that we use to associate with the present time; more or less a new set of those 12 months that we refer to as a 'year'. However, many use it as a chance to reflect back on the year that has passed in an effort to measure some form of forward development or progress, whether in our personal lives, business, or even the progression of a nation as a whole. A chance to reflect back on what has been accomplished while using those achievements to set the bar higher and to fuel the goals for the upcoming year.
This same approach, or measurement of success rather, can be applied to the marijuana movement of the past year, or what we know as 2012. Marijuana in general spent a majority of 2012 in a defensive position, much like it has since 1937 when the Marijuana Tax Act was passed. However, marijuana activists will measure 2012's success with regards to one day, November 6, 2012. On this day marijuana activists came out and legalized marijuana for recreational use in Colorado and Washington state. Many others around the United States also helped to pass decriminalization and medical marijuana laws. Although individual state laws differ from Federal Law we can see that there is a national consensus toward marijuana legalization.
December 22nd came around like any other day, even after a fictitious and fabricated idea that the world would end on December 21st in connection to a Mayan Calendar of some sort. But that leaves me to wonder, how does a fabricated story like "the end of the world" become so viral, and so believable? Yet something so real, with a true backing and support system of people who believe in it and have proof of it's benefits are disregarded by so many prohibitionists? Well it seems that those prohibitionists are becoming outnumbered as we move forward into 2013! Let's keep the movement moving. Happy New Year and as always, STAY MEDICATED!

Wake & Bake Refuel

Do you need refueling this morning? Here is a short but cool clip of an F15 going inverted after a refuel. This is sort of what I look like in the morning after a wake & bake session...just rolling and inverting full speed out of my bed ready to crush the day with no struggles in sight! Happy Saturday and stay medicated!

Wake & Bake Wednesday

The Game - Celebration

This song was released by The Game as his first single from his fifth album, Jesus Piece, which dropped a couple of weeks ago on December 11th. This song has been out since this past summer, but the fact that it samples the famed "1st of tha Month" by Bone Thugs-N-Harmony makes it a really catchy song to bump, especially while smoking your favorite strains! So roll up, spark up, click play, and enjoy!

Do Cannabis Coffee Shops Have a Future in the U.S.?

Are Pot-Friendly Coffee Shops About to Become a Thing in America by Alexander Abad-Santos

With recreational marijuana now legalized in Colorado and Washington we will slowly but surely see the industry attempt to grow with the two "rebel" states glancing over their shoulders every so often to see how the federal government will respond. It's almost as if these two states have to take an inch a day until their toes eventually get stepped on by the big boot of the federal government.....

However, maybe that day will never come. Maybe Colorado and Washington state will put together and enforce a detailed set of laws that will make recreational marijuana use a reality nationwide. These two states have a lot of work to do in the coming months to prove that these law changes can be applied and carried out smoothly in society. But let's be honest, as we all know smoking marijuana isn't anything knew. It's not just a fad. It's been around, people have smoked it and will continue smoking it regardless of any restrictions. People have always accepted marijuana use amongst themselves, but fear of the implications of using it has kept us in the "cannabis closet". So why not make a legal change to something that a majority of society now openly accepts? It almost seems counterproductive to go against the voice of the people anyways.
So how far will these states be able to take recreational marijuana in terms of a legal industry? That is a question that nobody has a clear cut answer to right now. However, if Colorado and Washington can reap positive benefits from doing so then maybe there is a future for the open acceptance of cannabis in America, even from those who don't indulge. Will I ever enter an Amsterdam-like coffee shop in the United States to have a smoke and a coffee to kick off my day? Probably not any time soon, but with the way things are going, hey you never know?!

Marijuana Not a HIGH Priority for Obama

So Obama has finally addressed (very briefly and only to a certain extent) the legalization of marijuana in Colorado and Washington state. Simply put he states that going after recreational users in these states is not a top priority of federal law enforcement officials. Well that just seems obvious. I mean that is what we the people are looking to accomplish in the first place with the recent laws that have been passed in these two states. To go after users of marijuana, whether they are partaking for medical or recreational purposes, would just be absurd. Weed is here to stay and people will continue to indulge regardless of laws and restrictions. The issue isn't if the federal government should go after the users or not, but rather if they will reconsider the laws that restrict these people of their liberties.
So Obama seems to be beating around the bush a bit here and rightfully so as this will not be an overnight change. It isn't as simple as him addressing the nation with one of his powerful speeches that ends with him sparking a joint and saying, "Marijuana is now legalized in the United States of America!" (*as everyone erupts into cheers and sparks up*). Although that would be cool as shit, let's be realistic. He will most likely sit back and see if Colorado and Washington can successfully manage these new laws and make them work without any negative implications to society. He also goes on to say that he does not support widespread legalization of marijuana "at this point". So there seems to be some positive comments here from the president that may indicate that he would consider addressing the laws of prohibition and listening to what the majority wants. Regardless we will stay medicated!

Cans of Marijuana Shot Over U.S. Border from Cannon?

Cans of marijuana just falling from the heavens bruh this can't be real life. After I finish up this blog I'm heading out in hopes of catching one of these cans. See me in the desert running at Usain Bolt type speed just to catch a can of OG Kush. Supposedly the 30 plus marijuana cans had a total of 85 pounds of weed with a street value of about $43,000. Not a bad find if you came across that on your daily walk through the desert.

Marijuana Officially Legal in Colorado

Marijuana Officially Legal in Colorado with Stroke of Governor's Pen by Ashley Killough

Today the recreational use of marijuana officially became legal in Colorado. It has been a little over a month since voters passed Amendment 64 in favor of the measure. Although it will take some time for regulations and measures to be written and enforced it is another step in the right direction for marijuana activists. The people have spoken and the states are following through with the implementation of these measures. The federal government has yet to respond and it will be interesting to see how and if they do. Obama could continue to enforce the federal law and put a halt to the legalization movement, but then he would be going against the voice of the people who secured him another four years in The Oval Office. How will he and the federal government react? In my opinion, Colorado and Washington should be treated as experiment states for implementing marijuana legalization. If we can make it work and it benefits the states and nation as a whole then why not? I don't see legalization doing any more harm than prohibition does currently. Regardless, stay tuned and stay medicated!

Marijuana Legalized in Washington State Today!

Today Washington state made history as the first in the nation to legalize marijuana for recreational use by adults. No time was wasted as dozens of supporters gathered under Seattle's Space Needle just around midnight last night to kick off the legalization of marijuana in Washington state, and quite possibly the beginning of the end of marijuana prohibition nationwide. There is a provision in place that forbids users to smoke outside the privacy of their homes in Washington state but that didn't stop this crowd from enjoying a nice smoke session with some reggae music. I mean after all these are the people who have come together in an effort to change the law for the better of society as a whole. It would just be inhumane to attempt to stop a positive and joyful celebration from occurring in public. No police force was present at the Space Needle last night and another gathering is set to occur this evening! Stay medicated Washington!
