L.A. Overturns Ban On Marijuana Dispensaries

L.A. Marijuana Ban Retreat Shows Clout of Pot Activists  by L.A. Times

So the Los Angeles City Council has decided to repeal its ban on medical marijuana dispensaries in the city thanks to a well organized group of marijuana activists known as Americans for Safe Access. They collected tens of thousands of signatures which forced councilors to decide whether to rescind the ban or to put it on the March ballot, and they decided to go with the former. Some marijuana activists believe that the medical marijuana dispensaries do need some form of regulation in regards to how many there are in the city. Hopefully the removal of this ban will continue discussions that lead to a legal but regulated medical marijuana industry in Los Angeles. The availability of medical marijuana is crucial for some people who need it desperately, including Councilman Bill Rosendahl a medical marijuana patient using it to help cope with a rare form of cancer. Rosendahl questioned his colleagues about the availability of his medicine if these shops are shut down asking them, "Where does anybody go, even a councilman go, to get his medical marijuana?" Marijuana has helped Rosendahl through his chemotherapy and he should have legal/safe access to it when he needs it. This news about the repeal of this ban will probably make the Kush Expo (check previous post) in LA in a couple weekends a lot more festive and enjoyable! Check it out and STAY MEDICATED!

  1. Marijuana for its use in the medical field is legalized within 14 states. There are large numbers of people today are using this substance as a means of recovering from their medical conditions.
